Gold Medal

2013 Winner - Mapping Information Branch of Natural Resources Canada

This year the Society is awarding the Gold Medal to the Mapping Information Branch of Natural Resources Canada for the completion of the topographic mapping of Canada at the 1:50 000 scale. This event represents a major milestone in the history of cartography in Canada. The rapid mapping of over 1,600 topographic maps in the last three years marks the culmination of a century of mapmaking. As of now, the whole of the Canadian landmass is mapped at the 1:50 000 scale.
