The Unity Peak Expedition 1998
Unity Peak is a mountain 2848 m high in the Rocky Mountains
of Alberta. It was named by a group of students from
South Carleton High School, located just southwest of
Ottawa.
The expedition to Unity Peak is part of the South
Carleton High School ‘The Western Experience’
project which has the goal of uniting all Canadians.
In addition to the social aspects of bringing
students from various areas of Canada together
to learn about each other, there were also a number
of scientific experiments that were conducted
in this environmentally sensitive area such
as collecting samples of glacial water and ice
cores.
During the expedition to climb Unity Peak the
students also maintained a web site, to let Canadians
and the world know about their adventure.
