Axel Heiberg Haute Ski Traverse

A team of four skiers completed a six week unsupported traverse of Axel Heiberg Island north of Resolute Bay, Nunavut. Their route crossed many of the ice caps and icefields of this island. Hence the expedition name, Axel Heiberg Haute Ski Traverse 2005.

From Sweetwater to Saltwater

Taking place in the summer of 2005 was the expedition From Sweetwater to Saltwater that was postponed from 2004. Ingeborg Jean and Karl Mattson undertook a journey by canoe that began at their doorstep on Sweetwater Road in Rolla, BC and finished on the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyuktuk, NT.

Rivière Denys 2005 Expedition
The Rivière Denys 2005 Expedition canoed through the sub-arctic wilderness of northern Québec to Hudson Bay. The Expedition traced a challenging voyageur route pioneered in 1888 by A.P. Low, one of Canada’s greatest explorers.

Paddling the Big Sky Expedition: Mountains to Arctic 2005

Commencing in the foothills of Hinton, Alberta and terminating on the Arctic Ocean at Kugluktuk, Nunavut this expedition is aimed at increasing appreciation for Canada’s boreal and northern landscape, and expanding knowledge of this area.
