Analyzing immigrant indebtedness and socio-spatial polarization in Canadian cities
Dylan Simone’s research seeks to understand how economic inequality and financial vulnerability extend spatially within and between metropolitan areas, through an analysis of immigrant indebtedness across Canadian cities.
Her research seeks to understand three questions:
- How do levels and types of debt differ across space for immigrants compared to the general Canadian population?
- Do different subgroups of the immigrant population experience debt differently?
- What influence does housing tenure have on accumulation of debt for both immigrant and non-immigrant populations?
