Can Geo Talks 2018: Geir Kløver

Lessons from the Arctic - How Roald Amundsen Won the Race to the South Pole

Geir will be introduced by Norway's Minister of Culture, Ms. Trine Skei Grande.

Join us Thursday, September 13th as award winning author and historian, Geir Kløver, explains how Roald Amundsen won the race to the South Pole. He will reveal Amundsen's ability to foresee the challenges ahead and change plans when new factors came into play. Learn about Amundsen's hard-earned lessons from the Arctic, living with the Canadian Inuit for three years, and how he used these experiences in the planning process of his South Pole Expedition.

Geir will show numerous original photos from Amundsen's expeditions through the Northwest Passage and to the South Pole, many of them Amundsen's personal hand colours lecture slides.

His award winning book 'Lessons from the Arctic - How Roald Amundsen won the Race to the South Pole' can be ordered directly from the author: and delivered after the lecture. (hardcover, 592 pages, $50 CAD)
