Join us at 50 Sussex Drive, Canada’s Centre for Geography and Exploration and the headquarters of The Royal Canadian Geographic Society, for the following insightful evenings exploring Canadian culture, storytelling and adventures.

Michelle Valberg
Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence Michelle Valberg is one of the nation’s top wildlife and adventure photographers. In an evening celebrating photographic excellence, Valberg will showcase a selection of her finest images and the amazing stories behind them, such as jaw-droppingly close encounters with grizzly bears in British Columbia and incredible Arctic animal moments in the farthest reaches of Canada’s North. Come explore the splendour and diversity of wildlife in Canada.

Adams Shoalts
In his new book Beyond the Trees: A Journey Alone Across Canada’s Arctic, Royal Canadian Geographical Society Explorer-in-Residence Adam Shoalts recounts his epic, solo 2017 trek through Canada’s Far North. Shoalts will reveal highlight moments from this quest (paddling legendary rivers upstream, fording Arctic lakes in a canoe, travelling bear country without a gun), and other standout experiences from his solo expeditions in this special evening presentation.

Ken McGoogan
Awarding-winning writer and Royal Canadian Geographical Society Fellow Ken McGoogan will captivate with insights from his new book Flight of the Highlanders: The Making of Canada. From battling hardship, hunger and even murderous persecution as they were sent to Canada, to fighting false promises and impossible conditions from the forest of Nova Scotia to the barrens of northern Manitoba, McGoogan highlights stories of the courageous Scots who helped build a new nation.
