The Society's Speaker Series presents
fascinating scientists, explorers, writers and
photographers who give beautifully illustrated
talks on a wide variety of subjects at various
centres across Canada.
The
Fall Speaker Series alternates between
different regions of the country. In the
past few years, lectures have been given
in Halifax, Moncton and Fredericton in Atlantic
Canada, Vancouver and Victoria on the West
Coast and Winnipeg and Regina
in the Prairies.
The Spring Speaker Series is
the showcase event of the
year.
The Fraser Lectureship in Northern
Studies focuses on an exchange of information between
Northern and Southern Canada. Past projects
include presentations in Inuvik, Norman
Wells, Yellowknife and other communities,
as well as GIS education workshops in Cambridge
Bay, Nunavut. In 2004 this series will bring
presentations to Whitehorse and several
smaller communities in the Yukon such as
Haines Junction, Mayo and Dawson.
The Lectures Program has been involved
in several co-sponsored presentations over
the years. The 2004 program, co-sponsored
by the Society, CPAWS and Queen's
University Alumni will bring presentations
to 10 major centres across the country.

"Armchair" lectures are also
